Welcome to Riverland Plants

We are a retail/wholesale plant nursery primarily specializing in species native to the Pacific Northwest. From large restoration projects to small-scale landscaping, we offer native plant solutions to meet your needs.

What We Do

Riverland Plants specializes in producing plants and seed from species native to the Pacific Northwest. Most species we carry fall into one of two categories: species that are overlooked in the commercial plant industry despite having great horticultural value, and species that are uncommon or declining in their range and need a helping hand. We supply both retail and bulk consumers, offering options for wholesale pricing for sufficient order sizes.

We also use our expertise to help recommend species for your yard or project, as well as when in the year would be best to install them. If we don’t carry the species we think best suits your needs, we also do made-to-order plant production, ensuring you get what’s best for you.

Buying Wholesale?

Prices and species displayed on this site are for retail sales. If you are buying in bulk, we offer discount pricing for wholesale purchases (100 plants or more). Please use the form below to request a price and inventory sheet and we will be happy to provide one. Feel free to include any questions you might have as well.

Who we are

My name is Thurman Johnson, thanks for checking out my website! I am thrilled to be able to grow and offer native plants to folks who are interested in adding them to their yard or project.

A little about myself; I grew up in the Columbia River Gorge, where some of my favorite things to do as a kid were clambering through the volcanic basalt fields and exploring the rolling grasslands. I earned my bachelor of science in wildlife ecology and conservation at Washington State University and my master of biology from Eastern Washington University, where I conducted research on Palouse prairie restoration methods.

My natural resources career has taken me from the sagebrush seas of Eastern Oregon to central Alaska, where I served as a member of their wildlife management team, to western Washington, where I translocated endangered Columbian white-tailed deer, and all throughout Idaho and Eastern Washington. Through all of these experiences and across these regions, I found preserving and restoring native plant communities to be one of the most urgent conservation needs.

I started this nursery as a way to share that passion with other people, and to help keep native plants around in what way I can. Whether you are only considering a few plants for a small space or a large-scale undertaking, you can help in your own way by planting native species. Thanks again and I hope you find some plants you like!
